Some people deal with the stomach as if it were a wastebasket; all the day they throw different kinds of food without tasting or realizing what they eat, as the most important thing for them is never feel hungry.
Some people, when eating, don't taste the different kinds of food they are offered to eat. They just throw it into their stomach. They don't enjoy the different beautiful tastes of food.
The doctrines of Islam did not neglect any thing in our life, even eating has its manners. Islam told us not to be ravenous eaters and we shouldn't eat so much that we are filled. There is a hadith, a speech of the prophet, that implied that Muslims eat only when they feel hungry, but don't eat so much food till they eat one's fill.
Also there are many manners of eating in Islam. Such as what was mentioned in many speeches of the prophet. First; you should say your prayer, eat using your right hand, and eat what is before you. Second; you shouldn't eat to one's fill, you can be satisfied with little food that keeps you able to work all day. Also the normal quantity of food helps you to breath well and also have the space to drink. Consequently; you will be healthy all the time. Our forefathers say that the large quantities of food can cause many diseases or even is the source of illness.
Food can help you to be healthy or may cause you illness, so it is important to know what to eat. It's your right to ask and know more about food you are going to eat and never be ashamed of that. I remember a friend of mine from Marrakech who used to ask about every thing relating to his food when having his lunch or dinner in a restaurant, he asks about the contents of food and how it was cooked to make sure that is healthy.
Food is one of the life pleasures that many of us don't enjoy it because they eat fast and don't taste the food well and so they miss this pleasure.
Eating is a human nature, exactly like sex, love, talking, and sleeping. It is important to enjoy every thing in our life. Enjoy the fresh air, rain, and the natural senses. Use all your senses to enjoy life and taste all of its pleasures. Eating without enjoying the taste of food has bad results that many of us don't know. It may cause fatness and many other diseases, because they eat so much food to satisfy the sense of tasting. At the same time they can satisfy it simply by tasting the food and enjoying their maels.
