The Abdul Fattah Sabry Short Story Award Committee has announced the launch of the third edition of its annual competition, organized in cooperation with the Menoufia branch of the Egyptian Writers Union. The competition has achieved remarkable success and witnessed significant participation in its previous editions, solidifying its position among the most important literary competitions in the Arab world.
The committee stated that the third edition will include three main categories:
Category One: Manuscript Short Story Collection
Requirements:
Open to all writers in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Contestants must be 40 years old or younger at the time of submission.
Submitted work must not have been previously published electronically or in print, and must be the original work of the author and written in Classical Arabic.
Contestants must submit their name, address, phone number, and a copy of their ID.

Prize: The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of 10,000 Egyptian pounds, a trophy, and a valuable gift at the annual award ceremony.
Category Two: Single Short Story (Exclusive to writers from Menoufia Governorate and students of Menoufia University)
Requirements:
Contestants may submit only one story. Participants submitting more than one story or participating in more than one category will be disqualified.
Contestants must be 40 years old or younger at the time of submission.
Previous winners are not eligible to participate until after two editions have passed.
The submitted story must be the original work of the author and must not have been previously published in print or electronically.
Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners according to their ranking (2000-1500-1000 Egyptian pounds), along with a trophy and a valuable gift for each winner.

Category Three: Children's Creativity Award (under 15 years old)
Requirements:
Contestants must be from Menoufia Governorate.
Contestants must be 15 years old or younger.
Any story showing adult interference will be disqualified.
The story must be submitted in PDF format without the contestant's name.
Child contestants must attach the following information: (name, contact phone number, address, and name of school).
Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners according to their ranking (1500-1000-800 Egyptian pounds), along with a trophy and a valuable gift.
Two encouragement prizes will be awarded, each worth 700 Egyptian pounds, along with a trophy and a valuable gift.
All participating children will receive symbolic gifts.

Important Note:
The awards will be distributed, God willing, during the annual award ceremony, which will include honoring a number of figures in the fields of literary, cultural, and artistic creativity.
Submissions will be accepted from January 1, 2025, to April 1, 2025.

The competition is named after Abdul Fattah Sabry, a distinguished literary figure. He is a writer, poet, critic, and novelist who has made numerous contributions to the fields of culture, writing, journalism, and creativity over four decades. He has published more than forty works of short stories, poetry, and literary writing. He is a major contributor to enriching the Arab cultural scene, particularly through his experience with Sharjah's cultural scene, where he serves as the editor-in-chief of the cultural magazine "Al-Rafed," published by the Department of Culture of the Government of Sharjah. Through his leading cultural position, he has organized numerous literary, intellectual, and critical forums in various Arab countries and has supported many writers and creators.
