“Reproduction as A Way to Progress” is a very interesting idea; it also can be used as an idea for a scientific fiction movie. Although it may be a strange idea but when thinking about it seriously, we will find that it is not such impossible and can be carried out. Many years ago, this strange idea was discussed while talking about the census in Palestine. Israel is afraid of the terrible increase of the Palestinians. Their number is increasing in a way that threatens the existence of the Israel people; they are scared of being a minority within few years.

Reproduction is a very dangerous weapon, slow but effective. It enables the minority to be majority. And as a result, according to democracy; the president will be one who represents the majority. We, the Arab, have a proverb about this; “mushiness is better than boldness”. I was inspired to write about this subject when a friend of mine sent me a report about the changing census around the world made by an American agency. It discusses the increasing numbers of the Muslims in Europe.

According to this report; to keep any civilization stay for 25 years, it should increase in number by at least 2.11% and any less makes it liable to end. The report also discusses the census in all European countries, and then the average percentage in Europe in general which 1.38% is. In spite of being this percent less than the standard percent, the number of people in Europe does not decrease, and this mainly because of the emigration, and specially the emigration of the Muslims. This report warns from the increase of the number of the Muslims and their production which is 8.1% in France, which asserts that Europe will completely change into a Muslim continent within few years.

For many reasons I don’t agree with this report. First; the source of these data is not mentioned in the report. Also there are many elements that are essential in any report are lacked in this one. Actually the purpose of this report is raises suspicions. May be it was made to arouse sedition between the Muslims and the Christians. May be it aims to arouse the hostility towards the Muslims? It is very clear that it aims to stand in the way of the Muslim and the Arab high rank in Europe and America.

Any way, if we agree or disagree with the content of the report, we can make use of the discussion to talk about a public case. The subject of “reproduction as a way to fight” but the right term here is “To growth”. I don’t want to be misunderstood and some people may think that we defend terrorism while this idea is completely wrong. The point is growing in number helps to have an effective role.

20 years ago, there was propaganda for a company for investment; it was called Sa’ad Group for Investment, this propaganda called for increasing in progeny. Of coarse this concept was completely against the Egyptian government at this time who called for birth control. Only few years had passed and these companies were in troubles that ended by the dissolution of them by the government. As a result, some of their stockholders had lost their rights. Since then, the concept of increasing population had come to an end.

Through ages, the increasing in population was some thing that worries the developing countries like Egypt. This great uncontrolled population was always the obstruction that threatens the developing projects. These projects can never satisfy the increasing population. According to the Egyptian government’s point of view’ whatever the government does to achieve any progress, it will be nothing while facing this increasing in population.

In many Arab countries, this population is considered as a defect more than a merit. But this is because of being these countries developing ones, but in special cases this population helped some other countries to increase their power, as the case in Palestine. The increasing population there threatens the existence of Israel people.

May be I agree with those who think that population is a heavy load on the economic resources, because the number of people is huge and the economic sources are limited, so the result will be poverty and the disability of the government to satisfy all the needs of its people. Whatever how much the plans were perfect, they all failed to face and satisfy this increasing population.

But thinking about the population from another point of view, we will find that it can be turned from being a load into a power, from being a consumer into productive ones. We always talk about the human as one of the natural resources. It has an important role to achieve progress. There are many countries that count on the foreign workmen to achieve their plans of progress, at the same time these countries really want to count on their own workers to replace the foreign ones.

So, why don’t we consider the population as a figure of power? We should work on turning this huge population into a means to achieve progress. And this can be achieved by establishing many simple projects that help our plans.

The problem is that we deal with man as only consumer, exactly as the father deals with his son. He always think about how he will satisfy his needs, but he never think that his son must depend on himself one day and satisfy his needs and the others’ needs too. This is exactly the way in which the government deals with their people. The government works on how to satisfy the needs of their people, but never thinks about them as a productive power. If the government realizes this fact, then they know how to use them.

Also there are other ways to make use of the increasing population, such as emigration and working abroad according to some rules and under the supervision of a special ministry. This ministry will be responsible for developing the skills of the Egyptian workmen to be as perfect as the foreign workmen, so they can work in many important fields. It also helps to develop business and emigration to and from Arab countries that need to increase their workmen. I expect that the ministry will have great projects that aim to employ million Egyptian workmen as the first step. By this way we can change the population into a productive power that makes profits to themselves and to their community.

Although I don’t agree with the American report about the changes of the human characteristics and census in the world, it has political trends to some how. I think that the huge population is important, not only for helping the plans of development, but also for defending the Islamic and the Arab cases. The main point discussed in the report refers to a very important fact which is the increasing of the Muslims in Europe. I’m very close to this reality as I have some relatives live there.

Although this report has mainly ill intentions; it brought our attention to a very important and vital weapon that doesn’t imply invasion, control, or end Christianity. But it aims to develop and flourish not only the Islamic nations but also all nations in general. We should pay attention to that while planning for developing the Arab nations. And also we should pay attention to the quality, not only the quantity. Which means that; what is the point if a family had 10 kids who are not healthy and losers? At this time the population will be an element of weakness and destruction rather than being an element of power and progress.

We are completely for the increasing population and also we call for it only if we cared about breeding and educating balanced psychologically kids. Also we reject the increasing population if it offered for us generations of uneducated and not healthy kids who lacked skills. This point is proved by the theory of the natural selection which was always for the stronger, not the greater in number. This theory was logical at some time although some strong animals had died out. And now the natural selection will be for the most intelligent, as the man’s control upon every thing was by his mental power and intelligence, not by his physical strength.

We can’t go without talking about the huge increasing of Muslims in the Western countries; we should deal with this case by a civilized way. This increase can help the deep and the true understanding for the Islamic conceptions. It also strengthens the fields of the cooperation between the other countries. It can change their wrong impression about us. It also works in favor of the Islamic Arab cases. The aim is to prove that the Islamic principles and rules are the same humanistic principles.
